Privacy Policy

ConvertChess ("we", "us") is an endgame chess training app. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it. If anything here is unclear, email support@convertchess.com and ask.

What we collect

• Account info. Email address, and if you sign in with Google, your Google account ID and profile photo. Authentication is handled by Supabase — we never see or store your password.
• Profile data you set. Display name, avatar, and (if you link one) your Chess.com or Lichess username.
• Game data. If you link a Chess.com/Lichess account or paste a username for analysis, we fetch your public game history from that platform's public API to diagnose endgame patterns. We don't post anything back to those platforms or access anything not already public.
• Training activity. Scores, streaks, accuracy, and progress across the training modes, so your stats and leaderboard position persist across devices.
• Billing info. If you subscribe to Premium, payment is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. We never see or store your card details — we only receive your subscription status and renewal dates from them.
• Basic product analytics. First-party only — page views and in-app events, tied to an anonymous device ID and, once you're signed in, your account. We don't use third-party ad trackers and we don't sell data to anyone.
• Error reports. If something crashes, we may capture a stack trace and basic browser/device info via Sentry, so we can fix it.

Why we collect it

To run the product: authenticate you, save your progress, run the endgame diagnosis you asked for, process your subscription, keep the leaderboards working, and fix bugs. We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell it.

Who we share it with

• Supabase — database, authentication, and hosting for your account and app data.
• Lemon Squeezy — billing and subscription management (merchant of record for Premium payments).
• Sentry — error monitoring.
• Chess.com / Lichess — we read your public game data from their APIs when you ask us to analyze a game history; we don't send them anything about you.

We don't share your data with anyone else, and we never sell it.

Your rights

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Account — this permanently removes your profile, progress, scores, and cancels any active subscription. It's immediate and irreversible. If you'd rather we do it for you, or you want a copy of your data first, email support@convertchess.com.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately — we don't keep a soft-deleted copy. Anonymous analytics events (not tied to any account) may be retained in aggregate for product decisions.

Children

ConvertChess isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of ConvertChess after a change means you accept the update.
