Mate Rush

Checkmate the lone king as fast as you can.

How to play
  • You have king + queen and/or rook(s); the lone king defends optimally, so you have to actually know the technique.
  • Checkmate it as fast as possible — the clock and your move count both count.
  • Ten rounds, no two alike — queen, rook, two rooks, or rook and queen together.
  • From round 6 the lone king gets a knight, bishop, or rook of its own to hide behind. Blow the move cap and the round scores zero.

Checkmate the lone king as fast as you can. Ten rounds, no two alike — queen, rook, two rooks, or rook and queen together. Rounds 1-5 it's just the lone king; from round 6 it isn't alone anymore — a knight, bishop, or rook of its own to hide behind and block checks with. Dawdle past the move cap and the round scores zero.
